What's a wedding anniversary without the stories…
:
Me, My brothers and my mum were watching High School Musical 1,2 and 3, and it was getting late like 1am, and my dad joined us during one of the shows, and he was asking what happened to this person and that person. And in my mind I'm like "Is this not the strictest person on earth that wants everyone in bed at a responsible time?" But oh well there is some cool to him..
:
In the U.S we Nigerians know that kids can move out by 18, unlike our culture where you only move out due to your job or marriage. Well my parents, especially my dad mentally moved me out by 10! He did the talk with me about sex and being responsible as a Christian. After the whole talk, he said your responsible for your actions and he would respect my decisions and choices, well for those who know my dad, know that he doesn’t put up with nonsense!! It doesn’t mean he let me do stupid things, but he had huge respect for every decisions I had to make as a young man! I led a group of teenagers to start a Christian band at 15, I was always out about trying to start a little business and show here and there! I was close to starting my fashion show in my college days, I saw myself as a Business manager in my mum's little clothing business and I took charge of sales when I could, became the vice president of my department in college, and the list goes….
:
My mum will always say "You're responsible for your actions, I will not be responsible for what you do with your life, don’t say I didn’t warn you when you fail!!."
When we brought bad results home from the expensive Private High school we went to, my parents will be angry and punish us, turn off the tv and all other entertainment available. But after a couple days my mum will be like, "I can't kill myself its your life, your responsible for your actions". And turn on the TV and watch her shows! The reality of learning that "its your life" made me and my brothers know we had to do better**Although she will come back and talk and talk about how we are wasting our lives by getting bad results***, you can't wait for your parents to help you make the right decisions you have to do them on your own!! The first two sons of the marriage are proud graduates and responsible Christians **And one more in the making**, most parents don’t get both these days! So we are counting our blessings! Happy Wedding Anniversary!!
